Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Casey Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West lands a jab-cross combination.
West gets in close and instigates a clinch.
West presses Ryan against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Ryan slows down the pace here.
West misses with a short punch on the inside.
West has Ryan pushed against the cage.
West tries to land knees in the clinch but Ryan avoids the damage to the body.

West's coach down at Quick Fingers BEST BANG FOR BUCK Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on West's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
West rushes Ryan and presses him up against the cage.

West lands a good knee to the midsection. Ryan won't want to take too many of those.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ryan decides to stand up, so the ref orders West to his feet.

West lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Ryan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. West sprawls well initially but Ryan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ryan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but West sees it coming and defends easily.
Ryan seems to be looking for submissions.

West tries to get to full guard but Ryan has control of the leg.
West is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ryan scores with a couple of nice shots.
West is trying to stand up here but Ryan is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

West throws a series of strikes that have Ryan backpedaling.
Casey Ryan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
West lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ryan has a takedown stuffed.
West gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ryan.
Ryan closes this distance looking for a takedown but West circles away.
Ryan sets himself, and West steps forward looking for the clinch! Ryan avoids it this time.

West gets tackled into the cage by Ryan. Ryan maintains the clinch.
Ryan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as West walks away with a smile on his face. Ryan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
West lands with a kick to the temple. Ryan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
No joy there for Ryan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ryan!
Some wild striking there from West.
Ryan was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Ryan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

West slips a jab and a cross from Ryan.
A head kick by West misses
and Ryan makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Ryan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

West cracks Ryan with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ryan. West does a little dance to reset his feet.
West has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
West pushes Ryan up against the cage in a clinch.
West throws a punch but it's blocked by Ryan.
West manages to break the clinch.
Ryan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
West pushes Ryan off and scrambles back to his feet.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
West throws a quick inside leg kick.

Ryan moves out of range as West throws a body kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Ryan. That's going to slow West down.

West is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
West chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ryan can pounce on him.
Ryan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says West as he avoids it easily.
Ryan shoots for a double leg takedown but West sprawls well. He's pushed Ryan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ryan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but West moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

As West tries to get set, Ryan tries to push him back and clinch up but West manages to avoid the attempt.

West moves into range and connects with a jab.

West throws a sloppy head kick
and Ryan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
West tries for a takedown but Ryan circles away easily
and Ryan counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Ryan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ryan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. West quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
West is trying to stand back up but Ryan is controlling him
Ryan decides to return to a standing position.
Evan West seems to be getting the better of the standup.
West doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ryan counters with a lovely shot to the body.

West's corner calls for a 1-2. West obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Ryan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ryan decides to return to a standing position.
West cracks Ryan with a good jab.
Ryan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and West has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ryan dives in and grabs West's left leg, looking for a takedown. West pushes down on Ryan's head and hops out.
West goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Ryan shoots in and drives through. West sprawls well.

West thuds his shin into the meat of Ryan's side.

Ryan tries to keep at a distance but West has taken the fight into the clinch.
West tries to break free but Ryan pushes him back against the cage.
Evan West seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
