PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dana White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Sanders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dana White!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sanders lands in his opponent's guard.
Sanders will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

White looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

White throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Sanders's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

White isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sanders stacks White on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sanders!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
White is trying to escape the position but Sanders is controlling the position.
White tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sanders wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
White on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
White tries to improve position but can't.

Sanders looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

White is looking for a sweep.

White is looking to reverse the position.
Sanders landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sanders gets to mount! White was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Sanders is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. White can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

White is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sanders is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but White is surviving well by controlling Sanders's body position as best he can.

White bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

White drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sanders manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now White has Sanders in his guard.

Sanders is working White over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanders not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



White is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sanders's half guard.

White is working for a kimura but Sanders is defending it quite comfortably.
Sanders has his hands clasped together around White's back. He's all about the action.
Sanders is pressing down on White's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

White postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sanders is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of White, into his guard.

White is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sanders's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

White throws his legs up looking for a submission but Sanders uses it to pass to side control.

Sanders takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sanders has control of White's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and White regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Sanders postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. White looks a forlorn figure.

Sanders really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
White is looking to improve his position but Sanders isn't that keen on the idea.

Steve Sanders overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee warns White that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

You can see the frustration on Sanders's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

White takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sanders is looking for a sweep. White is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sanders moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Sanders has his feet on White's thighs here. He's pushed White off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! White screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
