Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mayo Kermode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
34 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mayo Kermode! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Mendez! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kermode tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kermode on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Kermode throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mendez looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Kermode doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mendez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mendez scores with a hook. Mendez misses with an uppercut. Kermode saw that one coming. Kermode closes the distance but Mendez moves to the side and Mendez counters with a nice uppercut. Mendez swats away the attempt to clinch by Kermode. Mendez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Kermode shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Kermode takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Kermode closes the distance looking to clinch and Mendez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Kermode closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mendez to the mat! Mendez manages to get full guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kermode wants to pass the guard but Mendez is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kermode controls the pace. Mendez is looking to stand up but Kermode isn't so interested in that idea. We've been hearing good reports from Kermode's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Kermode has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Mendez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kermode controls the pace. Kermode wants to control from the top but Mendez keeps moving. Horrible takedown attempt by Kermode or perhaps it was just good defense by Mendez, which made it look bad. A little jabbing left from Mendez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mayo Kermode. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mendez swats away the attempt to clinch by Kermode. Kermode darts in and clinches Mendez up against the cage. Kermode misses with a knee to the head. Kermode is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mendez is defending well for now. Kermode has Mendez pressed against the cage, preventing Mendez from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Mendez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Mendez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kermode tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Mendez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Kermode tries to clinch up and Mendez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kermode tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Horrible takedown attempt by Kermode or perhaps it was just good defense by Mendez, which made it look bad. Kermode shoots in and bounces Mendez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Mendez keeping moving, preventing Kermode from controlling successfully. Mendez is looking to stand up but Kermode isn't so interested in that idea. Kermode wants to control from the top but Mendez keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kermode looking to pass the guard. Mendez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Kermode trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Mendez wants to stand up but Kermode is controlling him.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Kermode moves out of range as Mendez strikes. Mayo Kermode seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kermode tries to clinch there but Mendez circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kermode is looking to clinch. Mendez slaps away a takedown attempt from Kermode, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kermode fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mendez wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Mendez might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Kermode moves to clinch but Mendez breaks away and Mendez counters with a straight right hand. Kermode tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Mendez counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Kermode is looking to clinch. A jab from Mendez finds it's way through Kermode's defenses. Kermode fails with an attempt to clinch.

Mendez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kermode. Kermode on the wrong end of a nice jab. Kermode tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. A big left from Mendez misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kermode is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kermode tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kermode somewhat. George Mendez seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kermode tries to clinch up but Mendez circles away and keeps his distance. Kermode moves into the clinch. Kermode looks to throw an elbow but misses. Kermode tries to land a knee to the head but Mendez blocks with his arms.

Mendez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mendez throws the left hand but Kermode avoids the punch easily. A little feinted left hand from Kermode on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Mendez misses with a few strikes there.

A little jabbing left from Mendez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Kermode takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Kermode fails with an attempt to clinch.

Kermode looks for a takedown but Mendez sprawls well. Mendez throws out a counter right but Kermode avoids it with no problem. Kermode seems to have got his legs back now. Mendez tries a head kick but it misses.

He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Mendez swings widly with a right hand
and Kermode holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kermode misses with an elbow strike.

Kermode walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Mendez finds Kermode's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Kermode flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Mendez lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Kermode will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). George Mendez! During a confident post fight interview, George Mendez thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Mayo Kermode spoke after the fight, saying 'The tower of power too sweet to be sour, funky like a monkey... oooooooohhh yeeeahhhhh'.
