Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Jean Jacques Machado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Tito Kerr! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machado tries to sprawl but Kerr drives through with a takedown into half guard. Machado regains full guard. Nicely done. Kerr working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Machado is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Machado throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Kerr in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kerr is looking to advance position but Machado has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Machado tries to control but Kerr wriggling away. Kerr working to try and regain half guard.
Machado avoids the attempt from Kerr to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Machado sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Machado swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kerr is now in Machado's guard. A big mistake from Machado there, giving up the dominant position! Machado is looking for a triangle but Kerr pushes his legs off easily.
Kerr content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Kerr working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Kerr in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Machado trying to control the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Machado is on top in guard.
Machado tries to free his leg and advance position but Kerr is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Machado trying to control but Kerr is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Machado sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kerr's guard. Kerr is looking to improve his position.
Machado is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kerr has managed to free his arm - good work. Machado is pressing down on Kerr's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kerr is holding on for now. Machado wants to control but Kerr is keeping him busy. Kerr wants to improve his position but Machado is controlling well.
