Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Poi Lai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pascual Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez has chosen Another One Bites The Dust as his entrance music. Pascual Perez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Poi Lai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Pascual Perez! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez has closed the distance and engaged Lai in a clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Lai has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Perez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lai prevents it.
Lai lands on the inside with an uppercut. Perez throws a head punch that misses. Lai throws a punch but it's blocked by Perez. Lai misses with some punches.
Lai tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Perez has Lai pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Perez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lai tumbling to the mat - Perez dives into Lai's guard. Perez throwing strikes from guard but Lai blocks nicely. Perez trying to control the position from guard on top but Lai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Perez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Lai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perez on the ground. Perez pushing down on Lai's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Lai moves into full guard.

Lai wants to get back to full guard. Perez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lai tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Perez!
