Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joni Ortese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Shapiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shapiro has chosen The Wackness as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joni Ortese! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luke Shapiro! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortese tries to clinch up. The fight stays on the outside here - Ortese looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Shapiro gets a clinch. Ortese has had enough of the clinch but Shapiro keeps him there for the moment. Ortese is trying to break free. Ortese could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ortese wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shapiro breaks from the clinch.
Ortese wants to clinch and Shapiro makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Ortese tries to clinch but Shapiro moves away and Shapiro counters with a one-two to the body. Shapiro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ortese as he jumps to the side. Ortese tries to clinch and Shapiro counters with a series of strikes. Ortese will be more careful next time no doubt. Ortese tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Shapiro counters with a lovely straight right hand! Shapiro moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortese tries to clinch and Shapiro counters with a nice body shot. Ortese wants to clinch but Shapiro slips to the side and Shapiro counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Shapiro. Shapiro gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ortese.
Shapiro is trying to break the clinch but Ortese has him pressed against the cage. Ortese wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Shapiro has him pressed against the cage. A right handed body shot lands from Shapiro.
Ortese drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shapiro pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ortese clinches but Shapiro breaks the clinch and Shapiro counters with a three punch combo that has Ortese backing up. Ortese nods at Shapiro to acknowledge the strikes. Joni Ortese is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ortese is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shapiro throws a series of strikes that have Ortese backpedaling.
Shapiro gets a clinch. Shapiro swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Shapiro tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Shapiro scores with a shot to the side of Ortese's head. Shapiro manages to break the clinch.
Shapiro circles away from the clinch attempt and Shapiro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Shapiro misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Shapiro has closed the distance and engaged Ortese in a clinch.
Shapiro lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shapiro scores with a shoulder strike. Nice body punch from Shapiro - that landed with a thud.
Shapiro misses with some punches.
Ortese wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Shapiro as the two fighters clinch.
Shapiro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shapiro cracks the inside of Ortese's front leg. Shapiro lands a jab-cross combination. The fight moves into the clinch position. Shapiro misses with the head strike.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shapiro cracks Ortese with a nice body shot. Shapiro swings wildly with an uppercut but Ortese uses good head movement to avoid it. Shapiro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ortese darts in trying to clinch letting Shapiro counter with a right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ortese closes the distance but Shapiro moves to the side and Shapiro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Shapiro lands a head kick!
Shapiro throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ortese stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Shapiro dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ortese takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Ortese tries to clinch up and Shapiro counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Jab by Shapiro. Shapiro moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Ortese tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Shapiro counters with a single leg into guard. Ortese didn't expect that. Shapiro stands up and waves to Ortese to follow him. Ortese has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Shapiro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice takedown defense from Ortese. No joy for Shapiro on that attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ortese wants to clinch but Shapiro slips to the side and Shapiro counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Ortese tries to clinch but Shapiro moves away and Shapiro counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shapiro.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortese keeping moving, preventing Shapiro from controlling successfully.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Shapiro gets to his feet. Ortese looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Shapiro connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Ortese takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Shapiro looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shapiro decides to return to a standing position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shapiro connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ortese darts in trying to clinch and Shapiro counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Shapiro lands a head shot. Shapiro fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Shapiro scores with a hook to the body. Ortese takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Shapiro scores with a one two! Ortese had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Luke Shapiro seems to be getting the better of the standup. Shapiro shoots in and drives through. Ortese sprawls well. Shapiro has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ortese walks into a stiff left hand from Shapiro. Joni Ortese seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shapiro throws a head kick that Ortese semi-blocks.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ortese tries to clinch up letting Shapiro counter with a right hand.

Shapiro working some nice short punches in the clinch. Shapiro is looking to break free of the clinch but Ortese has double underhooks. Shapiro misses with the head strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ortese clinches but Shapiro breaks the clinch and Shapiro counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ortese takes a shot to the head. Ortese is trying to drag Shapiro to the mat but Shapiro just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Shapiro wants to break free but Ortese has control.

Luke Shapiro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Ortese's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Shapiro lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Shapiro gets a clinch. Ortese goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shapiro prevents it.

Ortese tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Shapiro counters with a nice body kick. Ortese ducks right into an uppercut from Shapiro. Ortese closes the distance looking to clinch and Shapiro counters with a leg kick. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Shapiro - that will leave a mark!

And that's the end of the fight! Luke Shapiro comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Shapiro has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
