Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Remy Vovchanchyn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carl Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Thompson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
It looked like Vovchanchyn was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Vovchanchyn tries a head kick but it misses.
Vovchanchyn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vovchanchyn is looking for a counter combo.
Some bone on bone action there as Thompson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Thompson darts in looking for a takedown but Vovchanchyn gets double underhooks and turns Thompson into the cage.
A cross from Vovchanchyn lands.


It looks like Carl Thompson has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thompson dives in for a single leg takedown but Vovchanchyn sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Remy Vovchanchyn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Thompson.
A big left from Vovchanchyn misses.
Thompson darts in looking for a takedown but Vovchanchyn gets double underhooks and turns Thompson into the cage.
As Thompson looks to move away, Vovchanchyn throws a big counter combo but Thompson just gets out of the way.
Vovchanchyn throws a leg kick that misses.

Thompson fails with the takedown
and Vovchanchyn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A bone on bone clash there as Thompson blocks the leg kick.
And Thompson tries to counter it with a takedown but Vovchanchyn pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Thompson misses with a takedown attempt - Vovchanchyn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Vovchanchyn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Thompson darts in trying to clinch
and Vovchanchyn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Vovchanchyn lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thompson shoots for a double leg takedown but Vovchanchyn sprawls well. He's pushed Thompson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Thompson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

That has opened up Carl Thompson's cut even more.
Remy Vovchanchyn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vovchanchyn as he jumps to the side.
Thompson looks winded!
Thompson tries to clinch up but Vovchanchyn circles away and keeps his distance.

Thompson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vovchanchyn defends it nicely.
Vovchanchyn is looking for a counter combo.
Thompson's coach down at The Foundry was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Thompson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Thompson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Vovchanchyn avoids a punch combination nicely.
Thompson scores with a head kick. Vovchanchyn tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Vovchanchyn tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vovchanchyn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Vovchanchyn was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Thompson misses with a takedown attempt
and Vovchanchyn counters with a straight right hand.

Vovchanchyn cracks Thompson with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Vovchanchyn has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Thompson to stand back up!


Thompson is rocked!


The cut above Carl Thompson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thompson circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Vovchanchyn. Thompson falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Vovchanchyn!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Remy Vovchanchyn!
