Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hadriel Peters! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richards explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Richards shoots in but Peters avoids the takedown attempt easily. Richards fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Peters looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Peters looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Richards looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Richards trying to control the action but Peters is working from the bottom. Richards is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Peters has managed to free his arm - good work. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Richards lands a nice short elbow. Richards seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Richards thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richards content to control rather than advance. Richards landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Richards seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Peters does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Peters trying to control but Richards postures up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Peters looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Peters is looking to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peters has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Richards is working away from the top position though. Richards seems to be working for a kimura but Peters defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Richards rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peters moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Richards gets a clinch. Richards lands a takedown into guard.
Peters working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Richards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Richards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peters had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Richards is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Peters Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Richards's back instead. Richards manages to reverse the position and now he's in Peters's guard. Nice work there by Richards.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Peters has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Richards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Richards wants to stand but Peters is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scott Richards dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Richards closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Richards lands in his opponent's guard. Richards avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Peters looking for a guillotine here but Richards defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Peters is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richards is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Peters controls Richards momentarily but Richards frees himself. Richards stands up from guard. Let's bang! Richards works Peters's body with a nice hook. Peters has his takedown stuffed and Richards counters by moving into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Richards manages to break the clinch.
Peters gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Peters has his foot on Richards's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Richards works his way back into a safe position though. Peters looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Richards is in real trouble here. Peters gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Richards is tapping out! Peters wins by rear naked choke!
