Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard Burgess! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Parker! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice uppercut there from Parker. Parker fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Burgess is out of range. Burgess fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Richard Burgess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Parker scores with a jab to the body. Parker stuffs the takedown attempt from Burgess. Burgess gets slowly back to his feet. Parker throws a series of punches but Burgess avoids them all with ease. Burgess throws a big counter combination but Parker scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Parker looks to score with a jab to the body but Burgess is just out of range. Burgess is looking to counter punch. Parker has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burgess looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Parker instigates a clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Parker wants to get back to striking at distance but Burgess won't allow it.
Burgess pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Burgess tries to close the distance and clinch up but Parker swats him away and circles back towards the center. Burgess rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Parker moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Burgess tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Parker defends well and Burgess ends up having to push Parker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Burgess is breathing heavily. Burgess misses with a wild combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Parker slips a jab and a cross from Burgess.
Burgess fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Parker avoids it really well and circles away. Parker keeps the fight on the outside. Burgess tries to clinch up but Parker circles away and keeps his distance. Burgess misses with a wild body shot. Parker throws a series of punches but Burgess moves out of range. Parker throws a head kick that misses. Burgess tries to keep at a distance but Parker has taken the fight into the clinch. Burgess breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burgess displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Parker throws out the jab. Burgess throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parker's waist but Parker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Burgess off to one side. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Parker! That's four minutes gone in the round. Parker connects with a body shot that sends Burgess's belly button to the back. Parker closes the distance and clinches. Parker is trying to force a seperation but Burgess has the dominant position. Parker wants to break the clinch but can't.
Burgess tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Parker smiles and moves away.
Parker throws a leg kick but Burgess sees it coming and checks it nicely. Parker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Burgess doesn't seem bothered though. Parker closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Parker breaks from the clinch.
Parker throws a right hand that Burgess ducks under and follows up with a left that Burgess also avoids with ease. Richard Burgess has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Joseph Parker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. A combination from Burgess does no damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Joseph Parker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Parker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
