Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tim Lombardi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kedze Man! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lombardi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Man to the ground. Lombardi is now in Man's guard. Lombardi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Man keeping moving, preventing Lombardi from controlling successfully. Man looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lombardi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Lombardi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Man is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lombardi, into his guard.
Lombardi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Man doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Man manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lombardi has a closed guard, preventing Man from standing up. Lombardi working a defensive guard but Man manages to pass into side control anyway.
Lombardi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Man wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Man is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lombardi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Lombardi tries to buck Man off but Man is having none of it. Man stands up and we're back to a striking position. Lombardi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Man looks winded! Lombardi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Lombardi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lombardi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lombardi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Man, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Lombardi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lombardi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lombardi tries for a kimura but Man is defending well. Lombardi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Lombardi working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Lombardi has hold of Man's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Man tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lombardi cranks the arm and Man screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Man, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
