Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hal Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen DEATHSTARS - Metal as his entrance music. Shawn Brown has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hal Curtis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shawn Brown!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Curtis pinned against the cage. Curtis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Brown closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brown lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown wants to control from the top but Curtis keeps moving.
Brown stands up over Curtis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Curtis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown stays in close to Curtis's body and controls the position.
Brown wants to control from the top but Curtis keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Curtis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brown tries to free his leg and advance position but Curtis is retaining full guard.
Brown engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Brown with a flurry of punches that miss.
Curtis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brown is one step ahead there.

Brown thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Curtis has momentary wrist control but Brown slips an elbow through the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brown drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brown jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Brown slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Brown has gone for a leg lock! Curtis slips out almost immediately though and dives into Brown's guard.


Brown is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Curtis postures up.

Brown looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Brown has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Curtis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Curtis is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Brown has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Curtis is looking to defend but Brown has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Curtis! Brown pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Curtis taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Shawn Brown!
Shawn Brown seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
