The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard. James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted. James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. James is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jones holds on and takes a little breather. James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Jones throws up his legs and catches James in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! James tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Jones! That came out of nowhere!
