The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz lands a jab-cross combination.

Vandelay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Vandelay postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Vandelay works to advance to full mount. Ortiz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Vandelay goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ortiz is on top in guard.

Vandelay prevents Ortiz from getting back to his feet. Vandelay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vandelay lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Vandelay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ortiz reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ortiz taps out! nice BJJ there by Vandelay!
