Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pieter Daan Mostert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rydeland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rydeland has chosen Robbery - Not sneak attack as his entrance music. John Rydeland told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pieter Daan Mostert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Rydeland! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mostert changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rydeland tries to avoid it but Mostert manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rydeland to the ground. Rydeland escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rydeland lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Mostert staying out of range there. Mostert tries to counter with a takedown but Rydeland is quick to defend against it. Rydeland has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Rydeland pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Mostert tries a head kick but it misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mostert is defended easily by Rydeland. Rydeland thuds a left hand into Mostert's body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mostert takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Rydeland connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Mostert misses with a takedown attempt - Rydeland sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pieter Daan Mostert. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rydeland digs a good body shot into Mostert's ribs. John Rydeland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rydeland throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mostert tries to bum rush Rydeland with a series of wild strikes but Rydeland uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Rydeland misses with a wild combination.
A shot to the body from Rydeland misses and Mostert counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Mostert sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rydeland defending well though. Mostert controlling the action here. Rydeland is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mostert wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rydeland keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mostert seems to be working for a kimura but Rydeland defends the submission attempt. Mostert uses his free foot to push down on Rydeland's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rydeland. Mostert is working for a guillotine from mount but Rydeland frees his head quite easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rydeland is trying desperately to improve position. Mostert dominating with strikes here. Rydeland is working to get back to half guard.
Rydeland is bucking up trying to escape but Mostert cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mostert trying to control but he's not successful this time. Rydeland is in a horrible position here. Mostert smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mostert working away from the top, dropping strikes. Mostert is in the full mount, landing strikes. The referee warns Rydeland that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Mostert lands a nice shot to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Mostert jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rydeland manages to avoid the submission attempt. Mostert is looking to take a break and control but Rydeland is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mostert creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rydeland sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Rydeland tries to buck Mostert off but Mostert is having none of it. Mostert is looking to take a break and control but Rydeland is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rydeland manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Mostert has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rydeland seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Mostert looking for submissions off his back. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Mostert actively working from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rydeland keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mostert. Rydeland works Mostert's body with a nice hook. John Rydeland seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rydeland has closed the distance and engaged Mostert in a clinch.
Mostert stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Rydeland lands a hook to the side of the head. Mostert is trying to trip Rydeland. He has hold of a leg but Rydeland is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mostert persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Mostert wants to pass the guard but Rydeland is keeping the position. Rydeland lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Mostert throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mostert has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rydeland can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mostert is trying to control the position but Rydeland postures up. Rydeland in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mostert is trying to control the position but Rydeland postures up. Rydeland trying to control but Mostert is working from the bottom. Mostert pushes a forearm under Rydeland's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rydeland is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
