Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doyle Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marquan Weatherspoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk comes into the arena with American Encore blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Doyle Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marquan Weatherspoon!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hawk seems to be working for a kimura but Weatherspoon defends the submission attempt.
Weatherspoon wants to get back to full guard.

Hawk is working for a submission of some sort.

Hawk trying to work for an americana but Weatherspoon has managed to regain full guard.

Hawk drops back looking for a leg! Weatherspoon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Weatherspoon manages to kick Hawk off! Hawk jumps back into Weatherspoon's guard.
Hawk is fighting to break Weatherspoon's control of his arms but Weatherspoon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Weatherspoon told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Hawk drops back looking for a leg! Weatherspoon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Weatherspoon manages to kick Hawk off! Hawk jumps back into Weatherspoon's guard.

Hawk has gone for a leg lock! Weatherspoon slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hawk's guard.


Hawk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Weatherspoon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Weatherspoon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Weatherspoon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hawk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Weatherspoon has managed to get both his arms back between Hawk's legs - danger averted.

Hawk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Weatherspoon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Weatherspoon is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Weatherspoon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Weatherspoon stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Hawk avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hawk shoots in but Weatherspoon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Weatherspoon throws a nice looking combination but Hawk bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Weatherspoon lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hawk backs up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Marquan Weatherspoon will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hawk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Weatherspoon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hawk swings around for an armbar but Weatherspoon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hawk's guard.

Weatherspoon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hawk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Weatherspoon connects with a nice short shot to Hawk's temple.

Hawk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Weatherspoon tries to avoid it but Hawk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Weatherspoon to the ground. Weatherspoon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
