Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kris Chandler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardoso has chosen Samba de Janeiro as his entrance music. Kris Chandler could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Renato Cardoso's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kris Chandler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Renato Cardoso! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cardoso feints and then cracks Chandler's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Chandler down. Cardoso thows a body kick. Chandler tries to catch it but that hurt him. Chandler walks into a straight right hand from Cardoso. Chandler throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Chandler misses with a series of wild punches.
The fight moves into the clinch position. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cardoso takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Cardoso presses Chandler against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A right hand to the body from Cardoso.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chandler is trying to push Cardoso away but Cardoso has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Cardoso cracks Chandler with a nice body shot. Cardoso using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cardoso has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Cardoso lands a nice shot to the body. Nice body punch from Cardoso. A right hook to the body lands for Cardoso.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nice body punch from Cardoso. Cardoso slowing the pace effectively. Cardoso jumps into guard, dragging Chandler to the mat.
Cardoso has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Chandler doesn't defend quickly enough and Cardoso has managed to lock this one up! Can Chandler escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Cardoso on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Renato Cardoso! Renato Cardoso decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
