Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sonny The Flash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marvin Eric! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eric shoots in and bounces The Flash off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The Flash has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Eric is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for The Flash. The Flash is looking for a sweep. The Flash gets back to half guard. The Flash looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The Flash actively working from the bottom here. The Flash looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Eric is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. The Flash doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Eric.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Flash is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Eric pulls his head out easily. The Flash is in trouble now - Eric has advanced to mount! Eric working for a submission but The Flash is keeping him at bay. The Flash tries to hold on but Eric pushes him away. Eric looking to finish The Flash with some ground and pound. This is bad for The Flash!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The Flash tries to get back to half guard but can't. The Flash throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Eric with shots to the head and body - The Flash looks very uncomfortable down there. Eric jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but The Flash manages to avoid the submission attempt. The Flash is trying to get back to half guard. The Flash is breathing heavily. The Flash is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Eric is one step ahead and moves to full mount! The Flash throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Eric takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
The Flash is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Eric gets his way!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Flash rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The Flash looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The Flash wants to control but Eric is keeping busy.
The Flash looking for a kimura from the bottom but Eric passes into side control! Eric thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Eric working the head and body with strikes. The Flash wants to control but Eric postures up. The Flash tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Eric wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The Flash manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The Flash is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Eric pulls his head out easily. The Flash actively working from the bottom here. Eric moves into full mount! The Flash won't be happy about that! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marvin Eric dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
The Flash lands a nice shot that snaps Eric's head back.
Eric closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Eric lands in his opponent's guard. Eric trying to control but The Flash is working from the bottom. Eric drops back looking for a leg! The Flash is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and The Flash manages to kick Eric off! Eric jumps back into The Flash's guard. The Flash is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The Flash is looking to sinch up a triangle. Eric throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to The Flash's body to avoid the submission. The Flash has instead reached around Eric's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! The Flash arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
