PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fat Slob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emmet Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses the shot to the body.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jones blocks a body shot from Slob.
Jones scores with a nice hook to the head.
Jones is trying to stall.
Slob tries a knee to the head but Jones blocks it.
Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Slob.
Slob scores a nice knee to the body.
Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Slob is struggling to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slob softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Jones throws a head punch that misses.
Jones has Slob pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Slob manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Slob lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jones backwards.

Slob manages to break the clinch.
Slob pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Jones avoids the head kick by Slob.
Sloppy strikes from Jones. Those never looked like landing.
Slob swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Slob as he jumps to the side.
Fat Slob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emmet Jones.
Jones lands with an uppercut that bounces Slob off the cage and back into range.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones lands a jab to the nose.

Jones tries to clinch up
and Slob counters with a thumping low kick.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Slob circles away.
It looked like Slob was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jones.
Jones tries to clinch but Slob moves out of range.
Slob ducks right into an uppercut from Jones.
Jones bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Slob's head backwards.
Jones is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slob lunges at Jones with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jones's hand.
Jones scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Slob gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.
Jones blocks a head kick by Slob.
Jones lands a jab to the head.
Good leg kick by Slob there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Jones moves out of range as Slob throws a body kick.
Slob waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones.
Jones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slob manages to avoid it.
Slob went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Slob.
Jones throws a series of punches but Slob moves out of range.
Jones works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Slob keeps the fight on the outside.
Slob tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.
Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Jones lands the left hand.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Slob pushes him off.
Jones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Jones wants to clinch.

Jones scores with a nice right hand.
Jones is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Slob had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones lands the left hand.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Slob shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones lands the left hand.
Slob lands a head kick. Jones smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Emmet Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slob slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A little jabbing left from Jones on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Slob pushes him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Emmet Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Slob tries a head kick but it misses.
Slob misses with a double jab.
Slob throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Slob swats away the attempt to clinch by Jones.
Jones has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Jones wants to clinch up but Slob keeps it at a distance.

Slob fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.
Nice body punch from Slob - that landed with a thud.
A shot in the inside from Slob.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones lands a right hand.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Slob obliges.

Slob escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slob could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jones shoots and misses

and Slob counters by moving into the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Jones fails to land.

Slob lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jones is trying to pull guard but Slob turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Fat Slob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emmet Jones.
Slob lands a knee to the head.

Jones tightens his grip and picks Slob up, before dumping him to the ground. Slob manages to land in guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Slob holds on and takes a little breather.
Slob has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.
Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Slob keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Slob's guard.
Jones winds up and cracks Slob with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jones landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Jones passes to side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Jones trying to control the action but Slob is working from the bottom.
Slob might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Jones decides to stand back up.
Jones feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slobs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Jones fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Slob on the side of the head.
Slob keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Jones looks to land a combination. Slob sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones fails with the takedown.
Jones tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Slob walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Slob lands with a cross.

Slob has managed to clinch.

Slob cracks Jones with a nice body shot.
Jones wants a takedown but no success here.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Slob crunches a lovely knee into Jones's ribcage.
Fat Slob has scored more points in the clinch so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Slob lands a body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fat Slob will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Jones is looking to clinch.
Jones lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Jones tries to clinch up but Slob circles away and keeps his distance.
As Jones looks to move away, Slob throws a big counter combo but Jones just gets out of the way.
Slob throws a head kick that misses.
Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Slob.
Jones lunges at Slob with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Slob's hand.
Slob needs to keep his hands up - Jones had a free shot at his head there.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slob paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Slob has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Slob is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones cracks Slob with a hook to the temple - Slob is on wobbly legs here! Jones swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Slob falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Jones wins by TKO!
