The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Njewel blocks a head kick by Gold.
A combination from Njewel does no damage.
Njewel throws a series of punches but Gold moves out of range.
Gold looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Gold throws a nice outside leg kick.
Gold pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Njewel throws a series of strikes that have Gold backpedaling.
Gold pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Njewel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Njewel moves into the clinch.
Gold blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gold fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Njewel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gold throws a half hearted mid kick.

Gold tries a low kick but Njewel avoids it.
Gold comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Njewel counters with a three punch combo that has Gold backing up. Gold nods at Njewel to acknowledge the strikes.

Gold fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gold tries to keep at a distance but Njewel has taken the fight into the clinch.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Gold.

Njewel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gold pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Gold looks to score with a jab to the body but Njewel is just out of range.

Njewel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gold throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Njewel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Njewel wants to clinch
and Gold cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gold lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Gold slaps away a takedown attempt from Njewel, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gold slips a jab and a cross from Njewel.
Gold connects with a single shot there.
Njewel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Njewel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gold's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gold holds on and takes a little breather.
Gold is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gold might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Njewel haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Gold is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Njewel is pushing down on Gold's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gold is fighting to maintain full guard but Njewel has managed to sneak the leg through.
Njewel is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Gold reverses the position - he's now on top in Njewel's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Njewel wants to get back to his feet but Gold is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Njewel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Njewel throws a right and a left that Gold avoids nicely.
Gold tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Njewel was well out of range. Poor timing from Gold.

As Gold looks to move away, Njewel throws a big counter combo but Gold just gets out of the way.
