Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Olson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aziz Khattou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aziz Khattou has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joey Olson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aziz Khattou!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khattou instigates a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Olson.
Khattou is pressed up against the cage. Olson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Khattou down to the mat. Khattou avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Khattou clinches up with Olson and pushes him back against the cage.
Olson looking for a takedown.
Olson tries to pull guard but Khattou holds him up against the cage and eventually Olson drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Olson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Olson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Khattou prevents it.
Khattou tries to score a body lock takedown but Olson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Olson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Olson is trying to drag Khattou to the mat but Khattou just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Olson is looking to take this one to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Khattou creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Olson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

It looks like Joey Olson has been cut.

Khattou breaks from the clinch.

Khattou closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Khattou throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Olson blocks it with crossed arms.
Olson can't break the clinch.
Khattou stops a takedown attempt from Olson.
Khattou keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Olson's efforts to push away.
Olson really is a fat lump.
Khattou can't find room to land a body shot as Olson controls the action.
Khattou prevents a takedown attempt there.

Khattou shoots in but no luck this time.

Khattou cracks Olson with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Khattou has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Olson to stand back up!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Olson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Khattou regains guard immediately.
Khattou is wriggling around but Olson manages to pass to half guard.


Khattou is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Olson pulls his head out easily.

Khattou looking for submissions off his back.

Olson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Olson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Khattou is just riding it out for now. Olson eventually gives up the hold.

Olson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Khattou has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Khattou misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Olson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Khattou's head.
Khattou wants to control but Olson is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Olson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Khattou pulls his leg out and moves away.
Khattou shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice shot lands for Khattou.

Khattou fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Olson, pushing him back against the cage.
Khattou gets underhooks to prevent Olson's takedown attempt.

Olson chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Olson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Khattou working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Olson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Olson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Khattou is breathing heavily.

Olson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Olson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Olson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Khattou as he jumps to the side.
Joey Olson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Khattou rushes Olson and presses him up against the cage.
Khattou fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Khattou tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Olson gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Khattou has one foot on Olson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Olson scores with a takedown into Khattou's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Olson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Khattou, up you get!

Khattou gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Olson jumps guard but Khattou stands there with Olson around his waist. Olson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Khattou wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Khattou lands a left hand that snaps the head of Olson backwards.

Khattou ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Khattou no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Olson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Khattou will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Aziz Khattou showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Olson.
Khattou tries for a takedown but Olson manages to get underhooks.

Olson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Khattou clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Olson working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Khattou is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Olson has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Khattou taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joey Olson!
