Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Thompson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Buchanan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buchanan tries to clinch but Thompson is having none of it.
Thompson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Buchanan cracks Thompson with a right hand to the side of the head.
James Buchanan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson goes for a double leg but Buchanan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Buchanan continues to drive forward.
Buchanan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Buchanan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Chris Thompson has been cut.
Buchanan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thompson looking to score a takedown here. Buchanan is defending well but Thompson drives through and ends up in Buchanan's guard.

Thompson has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Buchanan wants to stand and escape but Thompson is having none of it.

Thompson stands and steps away. Buchanan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Buchanan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thompson misses with a few strikes there.
Good exchange - Buchanan coming out on top.

Thompson appears to be looking for a big counter.
Buchanan moves in looking to clinch but Thompson pushes him off.

The fight stays on the outside here - Thompson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Buchanan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Buchanan throws a series of punches but Thompson avoids them all with ease.
Buchanan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thompson has his takedown stuffed
and Buchanan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Buchanan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Thompson on the side of the head.
Buchanan throws an overhand right that drops Thompson like a sack of potatoes! Buchanan dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Buchanan!
