Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Algot Uggla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Algot Uggla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Vega!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vega tries to land a body kick

and Uggla counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Uggla.
Uggla won't allow Vega to sweep him here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vega is on top in guard.

Vega stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Uggla swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Uggla wants to get back to his feet but Vega is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Vega trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uggla looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Uggla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Vega trying to control but Uggla is working from the bottom.

Uggla keeping full guard, as Vega tries to pass.
Uggla has control of Vega's left arm, preventing Vega from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Uggla has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vega can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Uggla has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Vega has passed into side control.

Vega is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Uggla has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Uggla is looking for a sweep. Vega is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Uggla is staying active underneath Vega, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Vega prevents Uggla from standing back up.
Vega wants to free his trapped foot but Uggla is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Uggla wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Vega is working for a kimura but Uggla is defending it quite comfortably.
Uggla might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Uggla regains full guard. Nicely done.
Uggla is trying to control the position but Vega postures up.
We've been hearing good reports from Uggla's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Vega passes Uggla's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Uggla makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Uggla.

That's time! Uggla's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Vega throws an overhand right that lands on Uggla's shoulder, as Uggla tries to avoid the shot.
Vega throws the kick towards the body but Uggla avoids it.
Uggla half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Uggla closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Uggla lands in his opponent's guard.

Vega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Vega looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Vega has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Uggla is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Uggla sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Vega uses his free foot to push down on Uggla's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Uggla.

Vega swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Uggla is now in Vega's guard. A big mistake from Vega there, giving up the dominant position!

Steve Vega showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Vega counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Vega is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Uggla's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Uggla's back!
I really don't envy Uggla right now.

Uggla escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vega gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Steve Vega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vega has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Steve Vega decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Algot Uggla was interviewed post fight and said '*spits out blood* haven't you got something better to do than beating up 18-year olds in QFC?!'.
