Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mario Kate!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Woodward gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Woodward is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Woodward is looking for a triangle but Kate pushes his legs off easily.
Kate postures up in Woodward's guard and throws a big left but Woodward blocks it.
Kate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Woodward escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kate gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kate postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Woodward avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kate is in close to Woodward's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Kate working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Woodward's head.
Woodward is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kate loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kate lands a couple of elbows.
Woodward wants to stand and escape but Kate is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kate makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kate avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kate got a little sloppy there for a moment and Woodward has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kate has managed to get both his arms back between Woodward's legs - danger averted.
Woodward is breathing heavily.

Woodward had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kate defends it easily.
Kate throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Woodward works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Woodward pushes a forearm under Kate's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kate is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
