The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wesley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wesley looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Andrews throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! A momentary lapse in concentration from Andrews enables Wesley to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Andrews manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wesley drops back looking for a leg! Andrews is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Andrews manages to kick Wesley off! Wesley jumps back into Andrews's guard. Andrews wants to stand and escape but Wesley is having none of it. Wesley passes Andrews's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Wesley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Andrews defends it well. Andrews tries to roll over but Wesley keeps him under control. Wesley seems to be looking for submissions.
Andrews manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Wesley keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Wesley gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Andrews is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Andrews throwing short punches from the bottom. Andrews tries to strike from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wesley is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Wesley drops back looking for a leg! Andrews is in trouble here! That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Andrews is trying to keep Wesley in close.
Andrews wants to get back to his feet but Wesley is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Wesley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Wesley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wesley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Andrews wants to stand up but Wesley is controlling him. Wesley slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Andrews is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wesley is controlling him well. Wesley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Andrews knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Possibly, maybe, no Wesley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Wesley is trying to get an arm triangle but Andrews is defending well. Andrews wants to get back to his feet. Andrews can't do much from the bottom here. Wesley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Wesley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wesley showed some decent athleticism there. Andrews wants to get back to his feet. Wesley wants to work for an arm triangle but Andrews is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Wesley looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
