Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Caspar Creel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shinsuke McNakamura! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNakamura blocks a head kick by Creel.
McNakamura takes a swing at Creel's ribcage but misses. McNakamura swings and misses with a shot to the body and Creel counters with a three punch combo that has McNakamura backing up. McNakamura nods at Creel to acknowledge the strikes. McNakamura lands a jab to the nose. Creel fails with a takedown attempt. McNakamura looks to land a left hand but Creel moved out of range nicely. Creel darts in looking for a takedown but McNakamura gets double underhooks and turns Creel into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McNakamura slaps away a takedown attempt from Creel, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Caspar Creel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Creel is breathing heavily. Creel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Creel looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Creel doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Caspar Creel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. McNakamura drops Creel with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Creel looks back up at him and smiles so McNakamura waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Caspar Creel has been cut. McNakamura closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Creel out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
