TWGC 11 (155lbs, D2): Sydney Qualifier - Round 1 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Andrew Morgan and Watsz Mawe. Watsz Mawe told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Andrew Morgan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Watsz Mawe!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Darius Henderson and Ben Watson.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Morgan looks for a takedown but Mawe sprawls well.
Mawe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Morgan shoots for a takedown but Mawe saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And Mawe tries to counter it with a takedown but Morgan pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Morgan goes for a double leg but Mawe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mawe continues to drive forward.

Morgan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
