Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clifford Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edine Lion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Clifford Butler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edine Lion!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lion gets a double leg takedown into Butler's guard.

Butler scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Lion pushes Butler up against the cage in a clinch.

Butler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lion tries to sprawl but Butler drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lion trying to hold on to Butler's head to control him but Butler postures up.

Butler is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lion has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lion throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Butler manages to pass to side control.
Lion manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Lion tries to roll over but Butler keeps him under control.
Lion is controlling Butler's trapped leg to prevent Butler from advancing to side control.
Lion's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Butler postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Lion is looking for a sweep. Butler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Butler is working away from the top position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Butler shoots in and bounces Lion off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Lion has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Butler is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Butler pulls guard successfully.
Butler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Butler wants to sweep here but Lion controlling him for the moment.
Butler lands an upkick as Lion stands over him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Butler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lion looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Lion must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Lion gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Lion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Butler wants to stand back up but Lion manages to pass into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clifford Butler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Butler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lion works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Lion pulls Butler in close to prevent any damage.

Butler might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lion wants to stand but Butler is controlling the position.

Lion is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Butler is aware though and is defending well.

Lion has his foot on Butler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Butler works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Clifford Butler will probably get the nod.

Lion gets tackled into the cage by Butler. Butler maintains the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Butler throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Lion escapes and throws Butler's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Butler is not content to let Lion control the position.
Butler manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lion's best efforts.
Lion thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Butler is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lion pulls his head out easily.

Well Butler has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
