Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Isiah Pittman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David Hey ! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pittman wants to get back to his feet.
Hey is just content to waste time from the top position. Pittman takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Pittman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hey manages to get himself to full guard.
Pittman tries to stand but Hey is controlling from the bottom. Pittman gets to his feet. Hey looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hey dives in and scores a takedown into Pittman's guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Pittman manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Hey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Hey . Hey gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hey 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Hey misses the shot to the body. Pittman clinches up with Hey and pushes him back against the cage. Hey manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Pittman wants to get up but he can't break Hey 's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pittman scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Pittman gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Hey looking to score a takedown here. Pittman is defending well but Hey drives through and ends up in Pittman's guard. Hey prevents Pittman from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hey throws a big elbow that misses. Pittman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Pittman keeping moving, preventing Hey from controlling successfully. Pittman wants to get back to his feet but Hey is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hey wants to stand but Pittman has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Pittman trying to control the position.
Hey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pittman takes the fight into the clinch. Hey has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pittman uses from the top position. Hey controls Pittman momentarily but Pittman frees himself. Hey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pittman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hey wants to stand up but Pittman is controlling him. Hey is trying to keep Pittman in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hey missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pittman is looking for a sweep. Hey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hey trying to control from Pittman's half guard. Pittman has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Pittman keeping moving, preventing Hey from controlling successfully. Pittman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hey is aware though and is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but David Hey will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Hey shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pittman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Pittman pushes Hey off and scrambles back to his feet.
David Hey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hey shoots in and gets a takedown into Pittman's guard. Hey decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. A jab from Hey finds it's way through Pittman's defenses. Pittman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hey throws Pittman to one side and escapes!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hey drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Pittman keeping moving, preventing Hey from controlling successfully. Hey works over Pittman with some ground and pound from guard. Hey trying to control but Pittman is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pittman has a closed guard, preventing Hey from standing up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Hey trying to control the position from guard on top but Pittman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. David Hey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pittman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hey ! Hey is trying to improve his position. Hey is breathing heavily. Pittman working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pittman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hey has escaped the position, nice work there. Hey can't do much from the bottom here. Pittman in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Hey is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
