Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Norman Vizcarra! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Vladimirovich! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vizcarra throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vladimirovich stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Vizcarra has Vladimirovich up against the cage in a clinch.
Vladimirovich wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Vizcarra has him pressed against the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Vladimirovich.
Vizcarra escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice straight punches there by Vizcarra. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Vizcarra. Vladimirovich fails with the takedown. Vizcarra throws a nice outside leg kick. Vizcarra uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vladimirovich.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. No luck for Vladimirovich with that takedown attempt. Vladimirovich throws out a loose jab but Vizcarra uses good head movement to avoid it. Vizcarra connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Vladimirovich momentarily.
Vladimirovich tries for a takedown but Vizcarra sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Norman Vizcarra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Vladimirovich. Vizcarra lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vladimirovich scores with a hook.
It looks like Norman Vizcarra has been cut. Vladimirovich swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vladimirovich avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Vizcarra avoids the body shot from Vladimirovich.
Vizcarra misses with a kick to the body enabling Vladimirovich to counter with a crisp jab. Vizcarra wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Vizcarra throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Norman Vizcarra is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Vizcarra bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Vladimirovich takes a swing at Vizcarra's ribcage but misses. Vladimirovich jabs Vizcarra to the body, keeping him at a distance. Vladimirovich moves out of range of the strikes. Vizcarra connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Vizcarra throws the kick towards the body but Vladimirovich avoids it. Vladimirovich is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vizcarra.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vladimirovich moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Vladimirovich fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vladimirovich tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Vizcarra was well out of range. Poor timing from Vladimirovich. Vladimirovich lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Vizcarra at a distance.
Vladimirovich lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Vizcarra slips under a jab from Vladimirovich. Good leg kick by Vizcarra there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Vizcarra moves out of range as Vladimirovich strikes. Vladimirovich cracks Vizcarra with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Vizcarra lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Vizcarra digs a good body shot into Vladimirovich's ribs. Vladimirovich throws a lazy right hand but Vizcarra sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. It looked like Vizcarra was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Vizcarra lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Vladimirovich moves out of range of the strikes. Vladimirovich throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vizcarra throws a left and a right that both miss
and Vladimirovich counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Vladimirovich chips away with some ground and pound. Vladimirovich controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Vladimirovich stopping the sweep attempt from Vizcarra. Vizcarra has momentary wrist control but Vladimirovich slips an elbow through the middle. Vladimirovich has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vladimirovich with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vladimirovich postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Vladimirovich chips away with some ground and pound. Vladimirovich with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vladimirovich is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vladimirovich passes into half guard. Vladimirovich is trying to control the action in half guard but Vizcarra is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Vladimirovich controlling the action here. Vizcarra looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Vladimirovich keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Vladimirovich is nestled in close to Vizcarra, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Vladimir Vladimirovich will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Norman Vizcarra's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Vladimirovich comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Vladimirovich lands with a right hand. Vizcarra throws a one two combo.
It looks like Vladimir Vladimirovich has been cut. Vladimirovich slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Vizcarra throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Vladimirovich to counter with a crisp jab.
Vizcarra is rocked! Vizcarra scores with a punch to the head. Oh Vizcarra is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Vladimirovich moves away from the strike by Vizcarra. Vizcarra seems to have got his legs back now. Vizcarra throws a body kick that misses. Vizcarra gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Vladimirovich gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Vizcarra is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vladimir Vladimirovich!
