PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chase Rowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Broich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chase Rowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tom Broich!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Broich takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Broich moves into the clinch.

Broich turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Broich manages to end up in side control.
Rowe is looking to regain half guard here but Broich keeps moving and retains side control.
Broich controlling from side mount.
Rowe stops Broich from passing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Broich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rowe keeps working.
Broich tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Broich wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rowe, who protects the arm well.
Broich wants to stand but Rowe is controlling his arm.
Rowe tries to bench press Broich off him but Broich keeps the position.
Broich content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Rowe is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Broich has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Broich scores with a couple of short elbows.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Broich content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Broich is looking to take a break and control but Rowe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Broich tries to stand but Rowe is controlling his head.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Broich seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Broich is looking to advance position but Rowe won't allow it.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rowe is trying to stand up here but Broich is controlling him well.

Rowe shoots in for a takedown but Broich shows good takedown defense.

Broich closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rowe to the mat! Rowe manages to get full guard.
Rowe has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Broich has passed into side control.
Rowe prevents Broich from moving into mount.

Broich is trying to ground and pound but Rowe uses the momentary lack of control by Broich to regain half guard.
Broich tries to stand but can't do so whilst Rowe controls his leg.

Broich closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Rowe is refusing to be controlled, as Broich sits in half guard.
Rowe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rowe is trying to stand up here but Broich is controlling him well.

Broich is nestled in close to Rowe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Broich is just content to waste time from the top position. Rowe takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Broich slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Broich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rowe keeps working.

Rowe gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Rowe manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Broich trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Broich wants to control from the top but Rowe keeps moving.

Rowe shoots in for a takedown but Broich shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Broich steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Rowe.

Rowe tries to work over Broich's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rowe.
Rowe ducks under a wild hook from Broich.
Rowe looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Rowe. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Broich misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Rowe counter with a right hand.
Rowe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Broich is fending him off so far but Rowe persists. Nope, Broich circles away and we're back to standing.
Rowe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Broich sprawls well. Broich wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rowe gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Broich has closed the distance and engaged Rowe in a clinch.

Tom Broich showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Well Broich has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
