Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shin Asuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiraku Saito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiraku Saito acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shin Asuka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiraku Saito!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saito forces Asuka back against the cage and clinches.
Saito landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Asuka is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Saito gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Asuka tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Saito looking to throw knees to the head but Asuka is blocking nicely.

Asuka is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Saito can't fight it off and eventually Asuka manages to take the fight to the floor. Saito looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Asuka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saito swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Asuka controlling from the top position.
Asuka trying to control the position from guard on top but Saito is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Asuka seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Asuka trying to control but Saito is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Saito can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Asuka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Shin Asuka just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Saito clinches up against the cage.
Asuka fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Saito throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Asuka blocks it with crossed arms.
Saito misses with a knee to the head.
Asuka misses with a knee to the head.
Asuka changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Saito fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shin Asuka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Some wild striking there from Asuka.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Asuka will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Saito misses with a low kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Asuka wants to clinch up but Saito keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shin Asuka will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Asuka counters by clinching up.
Saito misses with a knee strike.

Asuka decides to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Asuka is on top in guard.
Asuka looking to pass the guard.
Asuka sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Asuka wants to control from the top but Saito keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Asuka pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Saito is keeping the position for now.
Asuka passes Saito's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Asuka with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Saito is staying active underneath Asuka, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Shin Asuka just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Saito misses with a leg kick

and Asuka moves into the clinch.
Saito throws a knee to the head but misses.

Asuka jumps guard and drags Saito to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Saito trying to control but Asuka is working from the bottom.
Saito slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Saito is breathing heavily.
Saito is fighting to break Asuka's control of his arms but Asuka is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shin Asuka dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

and Asuka counters with a left and a right that stings Saito.
Hiraku Saito seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Asuka misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Saito tries to clinch

and Asuka counters with a shoot takedown. Saito fights it but they end up in guard.
Saito can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Asuka controls the pace.
Asuka passes Saito's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Asuka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Saito does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Asuka is controlling the pace.
Asuka has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Asuka looking to control and managing it successfully.
Asuka looking to control but Saito is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Asuka sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Shin Asuka just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Asuka shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Asuka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Saito does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shin Asuka showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Asuka, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
