Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Silas Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimi Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk comes to the cage accompanied by Ave Maria. The crowd seem to be enjoying Powell's choice of entrance music: 8 Mile. Silas Monk is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Silas Monk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimi Powell! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monk throws a combination. Powell tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Monk missing with a left hand there. Powell was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Powell with the counter takedown but Monk avoids it easily. Powell throws a body punch but Monk moves out of range. Monk moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A telegraphed right hand from Powell misses the target. Monk fails to land with a series of punches.
Powell looks to throw the jab but Monk is out of range. Powell moves away from the strike by Monk. And Powell tries to counter it with a takedown but Monk pushes his down on his head and steps out. Nice takedown defense from Monk. No joy for Powell on that attempt. Monk lands a leg kick that knocks Powell off balance momentarily. Powell has his takedown stuffed and Monk counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Powell has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Powell there as he acknowledges the shot. This has been an exciting period of action! A nice leg kick lands there from Monk. Powell throws a hook to the side of Monk's head but Monk sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Powell with a body punch. A glancing blow. Powell misses with a looping left. A telegraphed right hand from Powell misses the target. Monk appears to be looking for a big counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monk scores with the left hand. Powell knows he should have avoided that one. Powell lands a nice looking body shot.
Powell uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Monk. Monk misses with a looping right. We've been told by Monk's head coaches at Bjorn's Elite Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Powell avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Some wild striking there from Monk.
Monk on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Silas Monk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Monk throws a hook but Powell avoids it easily. Powell feints the counter takedown. Powell closes the distance and lands a one-two.
It looks like Silas Monk has been cut. Powell is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Monk works Powell's body with a nice hook. Powell pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Powell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Monk lands a glancing blow to the side of Powell's head. Powell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Powell lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Powell throws a big right hand that misses. Powell throwing strikes but missing. Powell controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Monk wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Monk working a defensive guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Powell looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powell preventing the sweep.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Monk lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Powell backs up against the cage.
Powell throws out a leg kick but Monk moves out of range and Powell only half commits. Powell lands a body shot.
Monk thumps Powell with a low kick. Monk throws a low kick but Powell avoids it. Monk throws a leg kick which misses Powell's front leg but catches the back leg as Powell tries to avoid it. Powell misses the body punch letting Monk counter with a right hand. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Powell lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Monk has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Monk and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Monk drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Monk scores with a punch to the head. Jimi Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monk takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Powell swings widly with a right hand
and Monk counters with a thumping low kick. Monk checks a leg kick nicely. Powell scores with a takedown into Monk's guard. Monk tries to land a sweep but no joy. Powell won't allow Monk to get back to his feet. Monk can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Powell controls the pace. It looks like Powell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Silas Monk dominated that round. The cut man is working on Silas Monk's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Monk throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Monk misses with an uppercut. Silas Monk is winning the standup battle so far. Monk misses with a body shot.
Monk misses with a hook. Powell ducked under it nicely. Powell tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Powell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Powell moves to clinch but Monk breaks away letting Monk counter with a right hand. Powell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Powell darts in trying to clinch enabling Monk to counter with a crisp jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Powell's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Monk connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Powell scrambles back to his feet. Powell misses with a body shot.
Monk takes one to the chin there. Powell throws a right hand that Monk ducks under and follows up with a left that Monk also avoids with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monk avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Monk swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Monk throws a chopping leg kick but Powell manages to avoid taking any serious damage. And Powell tries to counter it with a takedown but Monk pushes his down on his head and steps out. Monk lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Powell darts in looking for a takedown but Monk gets double underhooks and turns Powell into the cage. Monk half committed to a counter leg kick. Powell throws a combination that misses and Monk counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Monk fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Powell is breathing heavily. A nice inside leg kick there by Monk. That's going to slow Powell down. Monk wants to land a leg kick but Powell is out of range. Powell takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Monk is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Powell can do to turn this around? Powell throws a lazy right hand but Monk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Monk tried to counter with a leg kick but Powell avoided it. Monk cracks the inside of Powell's front leg. Monk doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Monk is looking to slow Powell down with leg kicks. This has been an exciting period of action! Powell throws a jab but it's blocked by Monk. Monk scores with a crisp jab that stopped Powell in his tracks. Powell looks to score with a jab to the body but Monk is just out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Powell uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Monk. Powell connects with the punch. Powell misses with a straight right. Monk was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Powell tries to clinch up. Monk looks to score with a jab to the body but Powell is just out of range. Monk throws out a powerful jab. Powell's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Powell lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Monk wants to land a leg kick but Powell is out of range. Monk avoids a punch combination nicely.
Monk swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice uppercut there from Monk. Monk throws a low kick but Powell avoids it. Monk takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Monk lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Monk stuffs the takedown. Silas Monk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimi Powell. Powell ducks under a wild hook from Monk. Monk with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Powell throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Monk counters with a left and a right... And another left! Powell is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Silas Monk! Silas Monk spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
