PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Saleem Al Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilson Ferrall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Khan's entrance music is Three Days Grace - Scared. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that Saleem Al Khan has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Saleem Al Khan seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Saleem Al Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wilson Ferrall!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Khan throws a looping overhand right but Ferrall ducks down to avoid it.
Ferrall walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Al Khan throws a shot from downtown. Ferrall moves away and avoids it.
And Ferrall tries to counter it with a takedown but Al Khan pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Al Khan connects with a leg kick. Ferrall looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Ferrall clinches up with Al Khan and pushes him back against the cage.
Ferrall is looking for a takedown.
Al Khan gets underhooks to prevent Ferrall's takedown attempt.

Al Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Ferrall shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ferrall showed some decent athleticism there.

Ferrall is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Al Khan is just riding it out for now. Ferrall eventually gives up the hold.

Ferrall looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ferrall tries to pass the half guard into mount. Al Khan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Al Khan is trying to stand up here but Ferrall is controlling him well.
Ferrall is looking to stall here but Al Khan recovers full guard.
Ferrall looking to sit in guard and control but Al Khan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Al Khan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ferrall looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Ferrall closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Al Khan's guard.
Ferrall wants to control from the top but Al Khan keeps moving.

Al Khan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ferrall is controlling him.

Ferrall drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Al Khan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ferrall has Al Khan in his guard.

Our spies down at at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple) inform us that Ferrall has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ferrall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Al Khan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Al Khan throws a front kick that sends Ferrall stumbling back into the cage.

Al Khan pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ferrall back to the cage. Al Khan follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Al Khan leaves Ferrall with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Al Khan throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ferrall shoots for a double leg takedown but Al Khan sprawls well. He's pushed Ferrall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Al Khan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ferrall takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Ferrall has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Al Khan.
Ferrall moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Al Khan shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ferrall avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
No joy there for Al Khan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ferrall drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Al Khan defends it well.
Ferrall steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Al Khan.
Al Khan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ferrall can do to turn this around?

Al Khan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ferrall circles away quickly and effectively.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ferrall looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Al Khan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
