The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wolf shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Correa but Correa pushes him off and we're back to square one. Correa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wolf moves out of range and avoids them all easily. The fight moves into the clinch position. Correa gets through Wolf's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Wolf's coach down at Island Warriors was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Wolf's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Wolf tries to pull guard but Correa won't allow it.
Correa just leaning against Wolf, taking a breather. Wolf drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Correa gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jose Correa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugo Wolf. Correa is pressed up against the cage. Wolf has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Correa down to the mat. Correa avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Correa scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Wolf is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Correa moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose Correa! Jose Correa seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
