Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mercury Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hayes moves out of range as Johnson strikes.

Johnson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hayes eats them both and turns towards Johnson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Hayes counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Hayes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Johnson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hayes misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hayes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnson sprawls well initially but Hayes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
