Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jesus Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Wyatt! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Ruiz throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wyatt stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Wyatt takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nice sprawl there from Ruiz as Wyatt shoots in. Wyatt doesn't manage to clinch there - Ruiz circles away.
Ruiz tries to counter by clinching up but Wyatt breaks away and moves out of range. Wyatt on the wrong end of a nice jab. Decent striking displayed by Ruiz there. Wyatt misses with a body shot
and Ruiz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ruiz. Ruiz works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Wyatt tries to pull guard but Ruiz holds him up against the cage and eventually Wyatt drops back down to his feet.
Ruiz pushes Wyatt back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruiz lands a hook that snaps the head of Wyatt backwards. Wyatt goes for a takedown attempt but Ruiz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jesus Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Wyatt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz lands a slapping body shot.
Wyatt shoots in and drives through. Ruiz sprawls well. Wyatt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ruiz moves into the clinch. Ruiz lands a nice uppercut. Ruiz lands a right hand. Ruiz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wyatt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ruiz wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Ruiz with a body punch. A glancing blow. Good shot there by Ruiz.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruiz closes the distance and lands a one-two. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wyatt takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wyatt is rocked! Ruiz throws a pinpoint strike between Wyatt's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Wyatt crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Ruiz scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jesus Ruiz!
