Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Benjamin Mendes and Tobias Pancake. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Benjamin Mendes! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Tobias Pancake! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pancake shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mendes is trying to defend but Pancake finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Mendes (0) vs (2) Pancake Pancake perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Pancake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mendes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pancake is working away from the top position though. Mendes is trying to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pancake looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Mendes manages to get to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pancake looking to pass the guard. Pancake content to stall in guard here. Pancake trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pancake's corner is telling him to maintain position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pancake's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Mendes has his foot on Pancake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pancake works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mendes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pancake gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Pancake is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mendes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pancake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pancake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mendes trying to control the position.

Mendes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pancake is aware though and is defending well. Pancake seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mendes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pancake is stalling in the full guard. Mendes has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Pancake should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mendes has tightened it up now! Pancake should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
