PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ahmad Daniel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Tindle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Tindle told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ahmad Daniel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Tindle!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tindle scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Daniel is not content to let Tindle control the position.
Tindle is staying tight to Daniel's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Tindle working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Daniel is trying to get back to his feet.
Tindle in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tindle trying to control the position but Daniel is working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daniel tries to buck Tindle off but Tindle is having none of it.
Daniel is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Tindle's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Daniel has his hands clasped together around Tindle's back. He's all about the action.
Tindle wants to pass to mount but Daniel is defending the position.
Tindle performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Tindle misses with a head shot. Daniel uses the momentum to regain guard.
Daniel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tindle tries to free his leg and advance position but Daniel is retaining full guard.
Daniel tries to strike from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Tindle sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Tindle is looking to clinch.
Daniel thinks about countering with a head kick.

Daniel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tindle quickly recovers to half guard.
Tindle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Daniel is working away from the top position though.

Daniel is looking for a kimura but Tindle is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Daniel to get the leverage.

Tindle tries to get to full guard but Daniel has control of the leg.
Tindle trying to control but Daniel postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Daniel waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Tindle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Daniel has Tindle up against the cage in a clinch.
Daniel tries to pull guard but Tindle forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Tindle turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Daniel tries to escape but Tindle is in control.
Daniel prevents Tindle from moving into mount.
Tindle controls the position.
You can see the frustration on Daniel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tindle advances nicely into full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mike Tindle will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Daniel stuffs the takedown attempt from Tindle. Tindle gets slowly back to his feet.
Tindle scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Ahmad Daniel has been cut.
Tindle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tindle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tindle should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Tindle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Daniel tries to avoid it but Tindle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Daniel to the ground. Daniel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Daniel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tindle avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tindle tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Daniel was well out of range. Poor timing from Tindle.
Tindle shoots in for a takedown but Daniel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ahmad Daniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Tindle.

Tindle drives through and clinches with Daniel against the cage.
Daniel tries to break free but Tindle pushes him back against the cage.
Daniel is looking to break free of the clinch but Tindle has double underhooks.
Daniel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Daniel jumps guard but Tindle turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Daniel drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tindle gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A frustrated look appears on Daniel's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Tindle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Daniel clinches up against the cage.

Tindle pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daniel postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Daniel won't allow Tindle to sweep him here.
Daniel is looking to stand up but Tindle won't let him.
Tindle not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tindle is breathing heavily.

Tindle throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Daniel escapes and throws Tindle's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Tindle tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tindle being controlled for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Daniel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tindle is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Daniel stands up and beckons Tindle to his feet.
Mike Tindle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daniel drives through with a takedown into Tindle's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Daniel wants to stand but Tindle has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Daniel wants to stand but Tindle is controlling his posture from full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

A close second round but Mike Tindle will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Ahmad Daniel's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Daniel displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tindle.
Tindle tries to clinch up.
Daniel swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Daniel connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tindle momentarily.
Tindle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Daniel dives in and grabs Tindle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tindle pushes down on Daniel's head and hops out.
And Tindle tries to counter it with a takedown but Daniel pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Tindle tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Daniel defends well and Tindle ends up having to push Daniel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ahmad Daniel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Tindle.

Daniel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tindle's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tindle's back!

Tindle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tindle is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Tindle trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tindle trying to control the hands but Daniel won't let him.
Daniel is riding his opponent, not letting Tindle buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tindle trying to control but not successfully.
I would not like to be Tindle right now.
Ahmad Daniel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Daniel has the hooks in. Tindle is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ahmad Daniel showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tindle has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
