Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Greco Roman and Richard Kuklinski. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 6 losses; Greco Roman! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 2 losses; Richard Kuklinski! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and James Glass.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kuklinski pushes Roman up against the cage in a clinch. Kuklinski tightens his grip and picks Roman up, before dumping him to the ground. Roman manages to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Roman (0) vs (2) Kuklinski Roman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kuklinski wants to pass the guard but Roman is keeping the position. Kuklinski stopping the sweep attempt from Roman. Kuklinski looking to sit in guard and control but Roman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Roman (2) vs (2) Kuklinski Roman preventing the sweep. Roman works a leg free and moves into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kuklinski doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Roman. Kuklinski trying to control but Roman postures up.
Roman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman content to control rather than advance. Kuklinski looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Roman is trying to control the action in half guard but Kuklinski is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roman is looking for a kimura here.
Roman prevents Kuklinski from improving his position. Roman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Roman with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kuklinski wants to improve his position but Roman is controlling well.
Kuklinski is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Roman jumps into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Roman (5) vs (2) Kuklinski Kuklinski gets back to half guard. Kuklinski moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Roman tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuklinski is retaining full guard. Roman controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Roman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Roman won't allow Kuklinski to sweep him here. Kuklinski trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kuklinski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kuklinski working a defensive guard here.
Roman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Roman tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuklinski is retaining full guard. Kuklinski is pulling down on Roman's head to control his posture. Roman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Roman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kuklinski wants to sweep but no luck. Roman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roman wants to control from the top but Kuklinski keeps moving. Kuklinski lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Roman (5) vs (4) Kuklinski Roman is looking to cinch up a triangle. Kuklinski throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Roman's body to avoid the submission. Roman has instead reached around Kuklinski's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Roman arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Greco Roman! Greco Roman spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant. |
