Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Taran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alexander Taran was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taran throws a combination that misses
and Simpson moves into the clinch.
Taran is looking to take this one to the mat.
Taran is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Simpson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Simpson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Taran ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Simpson moves away.
Taran shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Simpson but Simpson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jeff Simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Taran.
Taran darts in and clinches Simpson up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simpson breaks from the clinch.
Simpson slaps away a takedown attempt from Taran, before circling back to the center of the mat.
As Taran looks to move away, Simpson throws a big counter combo but Taran just gets out of the way.

Taran forces Simpson back against the cage and clinches.
Taran's coach down at Triton MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Taran's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Simpson tries to land knees in the clinch but Taran avoids the damage to the body.
Simpson misses with a knee strike.
Taran tries for a takedown. No joy.
Simpson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Taran throws the kick towards the body but Simpson avoids it.
Simpson gets tackled into the cage by Taran. Taran maintains the clinch.
Simpson tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Taran successfully pulls guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taran can do anything to dispel that myth.

Taran bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simpson's guard.
Simpson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Taran on the ground.

Taran stops Simpson from standing up.
Taran connects with a couple of short punches.
Taran slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Taran lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Taran has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Taran lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Taran is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Simpson is trying to stand up here but Taran is controlling him well.
Taran is taking a breather. Simpson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Simpson is looking to escape.
Simpson is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Taran is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Simpson is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Taran dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Taran fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Simpson sprawls well initially but Taran persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Oh Simpson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Taran lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Simpson quite badly. Simpson pulls Taran in close trying to recover. Taran postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Simpson on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Simpson doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Taran!
