Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joshua Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ralph Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie shoots in and bounces Thomas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Thomas is looking to stand up but Gracie isn't so interested in that idea.
Thomas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Thomas wants to stand up but Gracie is controlling him.
Gracie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gracie trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Thomas manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gracie moves forwards but Thomas connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A combination from Thomas does no damage.
Thomas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gracie moves out of range of the strikes.
Thomas throws a left that rocks Gracie and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Thomas dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Gracie regain composure!


It looks like Ralph Gracie has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie gets back to half guard.
Gracie trying to control here.
Gracie flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Thomas trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Gracie is looking to control Thomas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gracie avoid being mounted?
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Thomas has control of the leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie wants to control but Thomas is keeping busy.
Gracie looks gassed!
Thomas wants to stand but Gracie has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Thomas misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gracie.
Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A jab from Thomas does it's job there.
Thomas throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gracie throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Thomas thows a body shot but no joy.
Some wild striking there from Thomas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie fails with the takedown.
Thomas throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Joshua Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A big right from Thomas misses.
Gracie misses with an uppercut. Thomas saw that one coming.
Thomas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thomas misses with a wild body shot.

Gracie feints and as Thomas raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thomas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Thomas looking for a sweep. Not yet Thomas, not yet.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Thomas keeping moving, preventing Gracie from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Gracie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thomas's head.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gracie content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Thomas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gracie was well out of range. Poor timing from Thomas.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Thomas avoids nicely.
Thomas throws a jab when Gracie was well out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gracie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Thomas.
Gracie doesn't manage to clinch there - Thomas circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Thomas dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ralph Gracie's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gracie fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Thomas is out of range.
Thomas misses with a double jab.
Gracie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie swinging wilding here.
Thomas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gracie moves away.
Thomas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Gracie trying to control from half guard but Thomas is working away.
Thomas is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard.
Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Gracie.
Gracie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Thomas tries to hold on but Gracie postures up.
Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Thomas takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Gracie is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Thomas has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Thomas!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie keeping full guard, as Thomas tries to pass.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there.

Gracie is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Thomas frees his head nicely. Oh but Gracie has switched to an armbar! Thomas is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Ralph Gracie!
