The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cooper is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Baptista is surviving well by controlling Cooper's body position as best he can.

and Cooper counters with a single leg into guard. Baptista didn't expect that.

Cooper had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Baptista is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cooper Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Baptista's back instead.

Baptista turns into Cooper and is now in his guard.
Cooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Baptista is one step ahead there.

Cooper has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Baptista can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Baptista really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cooper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Baptista manages to get himself to full guard.
Cooper slips nicely into half guard.
Cooper has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Baptista defend it? Cooper steps over the head and cranks it - Baptista is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Cooper!
