Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Green! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob White! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Green blocks a jab. A slow jab from White misses its intended target. White throws a right and a left that both miss. White misses with a head kick.
Green avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Green shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Green slips under a jab. Green blocks a head kick by White.
Green misses with a takedown attempt - White sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. White misses with a straight right. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. White misses with a hook. White misses with a looping right. A head kick misses from White.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some wild striking there from White.
A jab from White does it's job there.
It looks like George Green has been cut. White ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Green moves away. White throws a right and a left that Green avoids nicely. Green scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Green goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, White rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Green's guard! Nice work there by White! White really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Green. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Green is trying to keep White in close.
Green escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. White gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Green kicks White off and gets to his feet. Green shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in White's guard. White utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. White tries to land a sweep but no joy. Green trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. White wants to sweep here but Green controlling him for the moment. Green drops back looking for a leg! White is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and White manages to kick Green off! Green jumps back into White's guard. White tries to land a sweep but no joy. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if White can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. White keeping moving, preventing Green from controlling successfully.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Green uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from White. Green lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
White misses with a kick to the body.
The fighters circling - White throws out the jab but it was never going to land. White is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. White throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Green counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Bob White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Green avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Green lands with a shot to the body. White looks gassed! Green throws a nice looking combination but White bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. White lands a right hook to the body.
White throws a sloppy body shot
and Green counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Green uses good head movement to avoid the hook from White. Green moves out of range as White strikes. Green misses with a low kick.
Green lands with an uppercut that bounces White off the cage and back into rage. Green moves out of range of the strikes. White throws a left and a right that both miss
and Green counters with a straight right hand. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. White throws a big shot that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Green dominated that round. The cut man is working on George Green's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Green throws a right and a left that White avoids nicely. Green slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Green slips under a jab. White might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. White pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Green scores with a nice right hand.
George Green is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Green closes the distance and clinches up with White, looking for a takedown. Green pushes White against the cage but White circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. White changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. White throws a body punch but Green moves out of range. White throws an overhand right that lands on Green's shoulder, as Green tries to avoid the shot. White throws a combination that misses letting Green counter with a right hand. Green slips a straight right by White. White is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. White swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Green makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. White on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. White gets caught flat footed, as Green shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Green is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Green wants to control from the top but White keeps moving. Green is pushing down on White's leg trying to pass to half guard. White is fighting to maintain full guard but Green has managed to sneak the leg through. Green is tying to control. White wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Green is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Green seems to be working for a kimura but White defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Green seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but White does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. White wants to get back to his feet. Green seems to be looking for submissions.
Green is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, White has managed to free his arm - good work. Green working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on White's thigh. White counters though and makes it back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. White tries to land a sweep but no joy. White seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Green won't allow White to sweep him here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. White fails to land with a series of punches.
White misses with a double jab
and Green decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in White's guard. Green drops back looking for a leg! White is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and White manages to kick Green off! Green jumps back into White's guard. Green wants to stand but White has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Green drops back, looking for a kneebar! White looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. White looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from White! A lull in the action here. Green sneaks back into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Green dominated that second round. The cut man is working on George Green's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
White missing with a left hand there. Green was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. White pushing out the jab but it's not landing. White connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. White scores with a body shot.

and Green counters with a nice body shot. Green throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Both fighters are breathing heavily. White throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Green counters with a single leg into guard. White didn't expect that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Green drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Green jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. White striking off his back but it's not causing Green any problems.
That's one minute gone in the round. Green sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed White's guard. White has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Green is working away from the top position though. Green seems to be working for a kimura but White defends the submission attempt. Green is trying to work for a kimura but White is defending well.
White preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. White makes his way to full guard. A much better position for White. Green wants to control from the top but White keeps moving. Green won't allow White to sweep him here. White is wriggling around but Green manages to pass to half guard.
White is trying to maintain the position but Green is very close to passing his half guard. White might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Green kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Green is looking to take a break and control but White is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Green wants to work for an arm triangle but White is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. White tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Green counters with a stiff right hand. White looks to throw the jab but Green is out of range. Green slips a straight right by White. Green blocks a jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. White blocks a leg kick. Green moves away from the strike by White. White fails with the takedown. Green avoids the head kick by White.
Bob White has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A combination from Green does no damage. Green lands with an overhand left. Green gets cracked with a nice right hand there by White. White pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Green lunges at White with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by White's hand.
And that's the end of the fight! George Green showed his dominance in that final round. Well Green has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
