Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwardo Burns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Allen! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
It looks like Edwardo Burns has been cut. Al Allen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Allen throws a right and a left that both miss. Allen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Allen has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Burns is landing a low percentage of strikes. Allen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Allen looks to land a combination but Burns avoids it well. A head kick misses from Allen. Allen rushes Burns and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Burns tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Allen avoids it. Allen is looking to break free of the clinch but Burns has double underhooks. Allen tries to throw a body punch but Burns avoids it by throwing Allen back against the cage. Burns is struggling to control the position. Allen has had enough of the clinch but Burns keeps him there for the moment. Burns displaying some good clinch control by pressing Allen up against the cage. Burns breaks the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Allen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Burns counters with a nice uppercut. Burns is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Allen takes the fight into the clinch. Burns pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Allen is looking to land body kicks. Allen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Burns counters with a series of strikes. Allen will be more careful next time no doubt. Burns clinches. Burns blocks a body shot from Allen. Burns is pushing Allen up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Allen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burns taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Allen is trying to break free. Burns escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Allen misses with a body kick. Allen throws a leg kick and Burns counters with a lovely shot to the body. Allen looks to land a body kick but Burns moved away. A counter left hand to the body from Burns misses its target. Burns avoids the body shot from Allen.
Burns tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Allen paws at him with a jab and circles away. Burns wants to clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Allen throws a head kick that misses. Burns is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Allen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Allen scores with a one two! Burns had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Allen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Burns has time to react. Allen looks winded! The fight moves into the clinch position. Come on Burns - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
A head punch on the inside from Allen fails to land. Allen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Burns is stalling here.
Burns is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. A short uppercut from Burns. Burns has a couple of punches blocked by Allen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burns decides to pull guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burns is on top in guard.
Allen wants to stand and escape but Burns is having none of it. Burns stays in close to Allen's body and controls the position. Burns thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Burns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Allen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burns. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Burns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Al Allen will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Edwardo Burns's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Burns lands an elbow inside that Allen shrugs off. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burns leaning his opponent against the cage. Burns avoiding damage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Edwardo Burns. Allen clinches with his opponent.

Burns pulls guard effortlessly. Allen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burns wants to get back to his feet but Allen is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Burns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Allen gets to his feet - Burns follows without any prompting. Allen throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Allen moves into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Burns stalling in the clinch.

Maybe Burns would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Edwardo Burns. Allen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Allen. Burns tries to clinch up but Allen circles away and keeps his distance. Allen feints the counter takedown. Allen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Burns is looking for a counter combo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Allen misses with a jab, cross combination.

Burns is rocked! Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Allen engages and cracks Burns with a massive lead left hook - Burns tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Allen is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Al Allen! After the fight, Al Allen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
