Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paha Hemmo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mingi Tyyp! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tyyp pushes Hemmo up against the cage in a clinch. Hemmo makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. I was talking to Hemmo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Tyyp misses with some punches.
Tyyp tries to work over Hemmo's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Tyyp with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Tyyp taking a breather. Hemmo trying to control the position but instead, Tyyp has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hemmo into the cage. Tyyp looking to slow down the pace here. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Tyyp takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Hemmo works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Hemmo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Hemmo misses with a short punch on the inside. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hemmo digs a right hand underneath Tyyp's ribcage. Tyyp let out a lung full of air as it connected. Hemmo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Hemmo stalling the fight.
Nice body punch from Hemmo. Hemmo with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Tyyp throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hemmo blocks it with crossed arms. Hemmo trying to land knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head punch blocked on the inside by Tyyp. Tyyp misses with a knee to the head. Tyyp looking to stall.
Hemmo takes a shot to the head. Still in the clinch, Hemmo scores with a nice short uppercut. Hemmo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tyyp walks away with a smile on his face. Hemmo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Tyyp throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Tyyp has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Hemmo misses with a looping right. Tyyp misses with a body shot.
Tyyp misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hemmo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tyyp defends it nicely. Tyyp throws an off balance right hand
and Hemmo counters with a shoot takedown. Tyyp fights it but they end up in guard. Hemmo scoring with some ground and pound. Hemmo stopping the sweep attempt from Tyyp.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hemmo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hemmo is looking to work some ground and pound but Tyyp has wrist control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hemmo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tyyp works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Tyyp keeping moving, preventing Hemmo from controlling successfully. Hemmo postures up.
Hemmo lands a couple of digs. Tyyp has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hemmo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hemmo slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Tyyp. Tyyp trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Hemmo manages to pass to mount!
Hemmo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hemmo is in the full mount, landing strikes. Tyyp is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Tyyp is bucking up trying to escape but Hemmo cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Hemmo scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hemmo punishing his opponent with strikes. A nice elbow there by Hemmo. Tyyp tries to reverse the position but Hemmo maintains control. Hemmo looking to finish Tyyp with some ground and pound. This is bad for Tyyp!
Tyyp is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tyyp taking shots to the head. Tyyp is still in real trouble! Can Hemmo finish him? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hemmo prevents Tyyp from getting the reversal. Hemmo raining down shots from the mount! Hemmo connects with a bit shot that sees Tyyp covering up! More strikes from Hemmo and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Hemmo is our winner by TKO!
