The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Easton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

It looks like Jordan Kirkland has been cut. Easton throws a series of punches but Kirkland moves out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Easton!

Kirkland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Easton tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Easton takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Easton's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Easton is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Kirkland has taken his back.

Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Easton wants to get back to his feet. Kirkland lands a shot to the body. Kirkland has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Easton follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Kirkland is looking to wear down Easton with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. A combination from Easton does no damage. A little feinted left hand from Kirkland on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Kirkland looks to score with a jab to the body but Easton is just out of range.

Kirkland seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Kirkland rushes Easton and presses him up against the cage. Kirkland misses with an elbow strike.
Kirkland pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Peter Easton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Easton goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kirkland throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
