Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bill Bost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benny Perez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bill Bost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Benny Perez!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bost tries to sprawl but Perez drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bost is trying to stand.
Perez trying to advance position but Bost counters by regaining guard.
Perez trying to control the position from guard on top but Bost is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bost has Perez pulled in close to control his posture.
Perez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bost works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bost keeping moving, preventing Perez from controlling successfully.
We've been hearing good reports from Bost's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Perez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bost dives on top into guard.

Perez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Perez can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bost trying to control but Perez is working from the bottom.
Bost cracks Perez with a solid left hand.

Perez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bost wants to control from the top but Perez keeps moving.
Perez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bost looking to sit in guard and control but Perez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bost not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Perez passes Bost's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Perez is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Bost still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Bost has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
You can see the frustration on Perez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bost lands an elbow.
Perez is trying to get back to half guard.

Bost working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Perez is looking to regain half guard here but Bost keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Perez keeps trying to improve his position.
Perez is not content to let Bost control the position.
Perez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bost sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Perez defending well though.
Bost is looking to stall here but Perez recovers full guard.
Bost wants to pass the guard but Perez is keeping the position.
Perez looking for a sweep. Not yet Perez, not yet.
Perez is pulling down on Bost's head. It's preventing any offense from Bost, at least for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close round but I would say that Bill Bost will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Perez pushes Bost up against the cage in a clinch.
Bost is looking to take this one to the mat.
Perez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bost is defending well for now.
Perez tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bost's elbow.
Bost dodges an elbow strike from Perez.
Perez struggles to land a body shot inside as Bost controls his hands.
A body shot lands from Perez.
The referee is keeping an eye on Bost - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Bost is trying to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perez wants to take the fight to the mat but Bost manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Bost is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Perez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bost has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Perez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bill Bost. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bost turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bost manages to end up in side control.

Perez is looking for a sweep.
Bost lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Bost trying to control the action but Perez is working from the bottom.
Perez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bost.
Bost in side control lands a decent elbow.
Perez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez is trying to control Bost's posture but Bost avoids it.
Perez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bost is just content to waste time from the top position. Perez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Perez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bost with a nice head shot there.
Perez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bost's guard.

Bost manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Perez manages to get himself to full guard.

Bost has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Perez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Bost loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Perez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bost has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bost is trying to stand.

Perez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bost is not content to let Perez control the position.
Perez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bost haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Bost pushes Perez off looking to stand but Perez dives back in and keeps control.

Perez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Perez passes to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Perez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bost has escaped the position, nice work there.

Perez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Perez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Perez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bost struggling a bit here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Benny Perez will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Bost just misses with a punch to the body.
Perez shoots in looking for a takedown but Bost manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Perez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Perez is defended easily by Bost.
Perez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bost tries to avoid it but Perez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bost to the ground. Bost escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bill Bost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benny Perez.

Perez is looking for a triangle but Bost pushes his legs off easily.
Perez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Perez wants to improve his position but instead Bost has moved into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bost connects with a nice short shot to Perez's temple.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
