PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Baz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Altoo Muca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Baz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Altoo Muca!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baz misses with a low kick as Muca jumps back.
Baz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Muca's waist but Muca gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Baz off to one side.

Baz pushes Muca up against the cage in a clinch.

Baz has picked Muca up - he's going for a ride! Baz dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Baz is looking to take a break and control but Muca is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Muca is looking to improve his position.

Muca looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Muca trying to control here.

Muca looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Baz is pressing down on Muca's thigh, looking to free his foot. Muca is holding on for now.
Baz is looking to take a break and control but Muca is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Baz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Baz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Muca misses with a takedown attempt - Baz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Muca instigates a clinch.

Baz works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Muca looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Baz wants to control from the top but Muca keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Muca is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Baz trying to control but Muca is working from the bottom.
Muca is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Baz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Baz gets to his feet - Muca follows without any prompting.
Baz fails in his attempt to clinch.
Muca blocks a low kick nicely.

Baz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Baz is breathing heavily.
Muca gets back to full guard.

Muca looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baz tries to free his leg and advance position but Muca is retaining full guard.

Muca working for a triangle but Baz defends it easily.
Baz trying to control but Muca is working from the bottom.
Baz sitting in guard here, content to control.
Muca controls Baz momentarily but Baz frees himself.
Muca is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Muca tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Muca is pulling down on Baz's head. It's preventing any offense from Baz, at least for the moment.
Muca keeping moving, preventing Baz from controlling successfully.
Muca is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Baz fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barry Baz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Muca clinches up with Baz and pushes him back against the cage.

Muca is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Baz can't fight it off and eventually Muca manages to take the fight to the floor. Baz looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Barry Baz will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Muca dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Muca showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Baz.
Muca shoots in but no luck this time.
Baz circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baz throws a hook but Muca blocks it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Muca looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Muca prevents Baz from breaking the clinch.

Baz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Muca clinches up against the cage.
Muca leaning against his opponent.
Muca is pressed up against the cage. Baz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Muca down to the mat. Muca avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Barry Baz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Muca is looking to clinch but Baz is avoiding it.
Muca tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Muca wants to clinch but Baz slips to the side

and Baz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Muca's guard.
Muca manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Baz manages to get himself to full guard.
Muca advances position into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Muca is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Baz is trying to escape and Muca transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Baz is forced to tap! Nice work there by Muca! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Altoo Muca!
