PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pickin Tippin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake The Powerhouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Pickin Tippin has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pickin Tippin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake The Powerhouse!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Powerhouse closes the distance and clinches up with Tippin, looking for a takedown. The Powerhouse pushes Tippin against the cage but Tippin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tippin throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Tippin rushes The Powerhouse and presses him up against the cage.
The Powerhouse tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tippin just stands there and leans against the cage.
Tippin has had enough of the clinch but The Powerhouse keeps him there for the moment.
The Powerhouse tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pickin Tippin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake The Powerhouse.

The Powerhouse breaks the clinch.
Tippin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tippin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Tippin lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The Powerhouse tries to close the distance and clinch but Tippin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The Powerhouse takes a kick to the side of the head.
Tippin throws a head kick that The Powerhouse semi-blocks.
Tippin lands with a thumping leg kick.
The Powerhouse throws a front kick that sends Tippin stumbling back into the cage.
Tippin throws a head kick that The Powerhouse semi-blocks.
The Powerhouse just misses with a punch to the body.
The Powerhouse takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Tippin goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Tippin throws a head kick that half lands.

The Powerhouse shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. The Powerhouse showed some decent athleticism there.
Tippin tries to roll over but The Powerhouse keeps him under control.
The Powerhouse controlling the action here.
The Powerhouse thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tippin's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The Powerhouse is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The Powerhouse wants to free his trapped foot but Tippin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Powerhouse not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The Powerhouse wants to stand up but Tippin has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Powerhouse is tying to control. Tippin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The Powerhouse throwing shots but Tippin is blocking nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The Powerhouse throws a left and a right that both miss
and Tippin counters with a thumping low kick.
The Powerhouse shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tippin as he jumps to the side.
Tippin throws a head kick but The Powerhouse moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tippin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Tippin misses with a series of wild punches.
Tippin is breathing heavily.
Tippin throws a nice head kick!
Tippin throws a head kick but The Powerhouse moves out of range.
Pickin Tippin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Powerhouse looks to land a body kick but Tippin moved away.
Tippin is looking to clinch.
The Powerhouse misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tippin throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by The Powerhouse.
Tippin throws a head kick that misses.
Tippin misses with a double jab

and The Powerhouse counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by The Powerhouse.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tippin is looking to stand up but The Powerhouse isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pickin Tippin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



The Powerhouse rushes Tippin and presses him up against the cage.
The Powerhouse tries for a takedown but Tippin manages to get underhooks.
Tippin is looking to break free of the clinch but The Powerhouse has double underhooks.
The Powerhouse lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
The Powerhouse keeps control of Tippin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
The Powerhouse lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Tippin backwards.

The Powerhouse breaks the clinch.
Tippin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The Powerhouse moves into the clinch.
Tippin wants to get back to striking at distance but The Powerhouse won't allow it.

The Powerhouse breaks the clinch.

The Powerhouse fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tippin sprawls well initially but The Powerhouse persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The Powerhouse wants to pass to mount but Tippin is defending the position.

The Powerhouse postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Tippin to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tippin misses with a low kick as The Powerhouse jumps back.
Tippin doesn't manage to clinch there - The Powerhouse circles away.
The Powerhouse dodges the punch combination from Tippin.
The Powerhouse avoids a punch combination nicely.
The Powerhouse lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tippin backs up against the cage.
The Powerhouse misses with a double jab
and Tippin counters with a three punch combo that has The Powerhouse backing up. The Powerhouse nods at Tippin to acknowledge the strikes.
A slow jab from The Powerhouse misses its intended target.
The Powerhouse throws a head kick but Tippin moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The Powerhouse moves into the clinch.
The Powerhouse effectively controlling the action here.
Tippin trying to land knees to the body.

The Powerhouse drags the fight down to the ground.
The Powerhouse is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tippin won't allow The Powerhouse to pass to mount.

The Powerhouse has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Tippin defend it? The Powerhouse steps over the head and cranks it - Tippin is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for The Powerhouse!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jake The Powerhouse!
