PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damian Hardacre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sawyer Hume (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Hardacre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sawyer Hume!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hume misses with a combination

and Hardacre counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Hume!
Hume has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Condor Training. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Hume slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Hardacre trying to control the position from guard on top but Hume is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hardacre advances to half guard.

Hardacre is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Hume still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Hume has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Hardacre wants to control but Hume postures up.
Hardacre looks to move to half guard but instead Hume has passed into mount! Damn!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hardacre regains half guard.

Hume keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Hardacre has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Hume escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Hume!
Hardacre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hume wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
A lull in the action here.
Hume in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Hardacre manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hume's best efforts.
Hardacre is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hardacre looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hardacre gets back to full guard.

Hardacre not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hardacre is looking for a triangle but Hume pushes his legs off easily.

Hardacre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hardacre looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hume has picked Hardacre up and slammed him! Hardacre can't keep hold of the triangle and Hume manages to pass to side control!
Hardacre is looking for a sweep.
Hardacre is working hard here to advance position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hardacre seems a little lost for a moment, as Hume dominates the positioning.
Hardacre is looking for a sweep.

Hardacre stops Hume from passing to mount.
Hardacre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hume wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hardacre is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hume is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hardacre is looking to improve his position but Hume isn't that keen on the idea.
Hardacre tries to hold on but Hume pushes him away.
Hume takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sawyer Hume dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hume takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hume avoids the body shot from Hardacre.
Sawyer Hume seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hardacre slips under a jab from Hume.
Hardacre throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Hardacre is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Hardacre bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Hardacre scores with a punch to the head.
Hardacre takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hardacre moves out of range of the body kick from Hume.
Hardacre went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hume throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It looked like Hardacre was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hume lands with a right hand.
Hardacre fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hume.
Hardacre throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hume lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hardacre at a distance.

Hume avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hume scores with a nice head shot.

Hume lands a left and a right that send Hardacre crashing to the mat, dazed. Hume thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Damian Hardacre has been cut.
Hume throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little feinted left hand from Hardacre on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Hardacre checks a low kick from Hume.
Hardacre bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hume's head.
Hume moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hume tries to clinch up.
Hume connects with a solid leg kick.
Hardacre tries to bum rush Hume with a series of wild strikes but Hume uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hume misses with a leg kick
and Hardacre counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Hume has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hume on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Hardacre on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hume. Hume obviously looking to wear him down.

Hardacre connects with a right hand. Hume shakes it off.
Hume looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A shot to the liver by Hume. Beautiful body shot.
Hardacre moves out of range as Hume throws a body kick.
Hume misses with a wild body shot.
Hardacre throws a push kick but Hume slaps the foot to one side.
Hume on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Hardacre drops Hume with a left right combo! Hardacre follows him down to the ground into side control.


It looks like Sawyer Hume has been cut.

Hardacre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hume has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hardacre wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hume, who protects the arm well.

Hardacre swings around for an armbar but Hume sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hardacre's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hardacre is looking for a triangle but Hume pushes his legs off easily.
Hume is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Hardacre looking for subs off his back but Hume has passed one foot through into half guard.
Hardacre is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hume seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hardacre is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hume pulls his head out easily.
Hardacre is looking to get back to full guard here but Hume has managed to pass to side control instead.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Hardacre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hume wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Damian Hardacre will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


A big left from Hardacre misses.

Hume lands a big head kick that sends Hardacre tumbling to the mat! Hume takes a step backwards and waves Hardacre back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Hume throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Hardacre to counter with a crisp jab.
Hardacre on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hume. Hume obviously looking to wear him down.
Hardacre moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hume stuns Hardacre with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hardacre looks to throw the jab but Hume is out of range.
Hume misses the shot to the body.
Hardacre takes one to the side of the head.
Hardacre throws a leg kick but Hume moved away.
Hardacre throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Hume circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Hardacre tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Hume wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sawyer Hume!
